A Day in the Life of a Payroll Specialist
With supervision and support provided by the Accounting Manager, you will process payroll biweekly for approximately 300 employees located in multiple states.
You will work closely with HR to keep payroll software systems up to date. The department will look to you to suggest ways to streamline and document payroll processes.
The team relies on your help to ensure the accurate payroll processing, and you get to work on a team that is diverse, dynamic, supportive, and talented.
Qualifications of a Payroll Specialist :
- 3+ years of hands-on payroll experience
- Core understanding of payroll processes and regulations
- Experience with larger payroll / HRIS software, Paylocity preferred
- Strong attention to detail
- Intermediate Excel skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Work Schedule for a Payroll Specialist
This full-time position typically works a schedule of 40 hours a week. This position will work a hybrid schedule of 3 days a week in the office with the flexibility to work from home 2 days a week.
We provide employees with the flexibility and necessary equipment to work from home. The Silver Spring office of Toole Design is our corporate headquarters.
We are conveniently located just outside of Washington DC in downtown Silver Spring, two blocks from the Silver Spring Metrorail / MARC Station and bus depot.
Our beautiful 8th floor suite offers stunning views of DC and surrounding Montgomery County. The office is easily accessed on foot, by bicycle, and via transit.
