As part of its separation from Carrier, the Commercial and Residential Fire business is building its tax department. This presents an excellent opportunity for a motivated and strategic thinker to assume the Sr.
Analyst of tax compliance and reporting role within the Tax organization.
About This Role :
This individual will have the opportunity to delve into all manners of tax issues impacting a multi-national company and creating true value for the company.
This role represents the opportunity to help build and shape the future of our tax department. This person will work with all members of the tax department and help solve issues to create true value for the company.
Key Responsibilities :
- Review and preparation of U.S. federal, international, and state income tax returns;
- Oversee and manage advisors in outsourcing of tax compliance;
Assist in indirect tax compliance including sales and use tax and property tax.
Assist in developing annual and long-range tax plan and year-end closing processes.
Manage tax compliance systems’ requirements and planning.
Coordinate compliance co-sourcing or outsourcing resources.
Support tax modeling process.
Support tax audits, as necessary.
Maintain Sarbanes-Oxley controls’ requirements.
Tax reporting responsibilities include :
ASC 740 reporting, including all requisite analyses, disclosures, and management communications.
Identification and implementation of planning opportunities.
Year-end closing process and provision to compliance integration.
Annual Tax Plan and quarterly reforecasts / updates.
Cash tax and ETR modeling.
ASC 740 planning with respect to transactional activity.
ASC 740 review with external auditors.
ASC 740 process / software continuous improvement.
Dividend Review & APB 23 Analysis
Required Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or Business
3+ years of compliance / reporting experience in a large multi-national, corporate tax or accounting firm environment
Preferred Qualifications :
Advanced tax degree a plus.
- Willingness to understand major steps in compliance process, from data sourcing through filing and tax account activity;
- Ability to identify and implement continuous process improvements;
- Operative understanding of tax cycle from planning through audit;
- Ability to understand complex tax concepts and apply those concepts to minimize taxes;
- Working knowledge of all major areas of tax law affecting the Company;
Understanding of the impact of taxes on the financial statements, and ability to combine tax and accounting knowledge to improve business results.
Enabling Competencies :
- Experience with tax compliance software and HFM, a plus;
- Experience with Excel and Word;
- Good interpersonal skills, including ability and desire to communicate, collaborate, and coordinate with others throughout the Tax and Finance organizations;
- Self-motivated, able to work independently and under pressure;
- Operates proactively and with a sense of urgency;
- Ability to motivate others to work towards established deadlines;
- Strong written and verbal communication skills;
- Good business sense and creative problem-solving skills;
Passion for understanding processes and continuous process improvement.
