George Fox University's seeking a Director of Advancement Programs to provide strategic and dynamic leadership for the advancement team by working closely with the Vice President of Advancement and members of the university community.

The Director of Advancement Programs will execute the vision of George Fox Advancement by providing strategic planning and oversight for engagement, acquisition, and retention of George Fox donors and champions.

This position will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders including alumni, donors, students, faculty, staff, and the broader community in advancing the university's overall mission.

This position reports to the Vice President of Advancement.

About the Job :

The Director of Advancement Programs is a strategist and executor. As a key leader on the advancement team this position is responsible for large- and small-scale community engagement, at all levels, within the institution's external and internal constituencies.

The Director of Advancement Programs creates strategies, systems, and opportunities that ensure all constituents are engaged broadly, solicited en masse for university funding priorities, deliberately cultivated, and ultimately brought closer to the institution and in alignment with the division's and university's strategic and fundraising goals.

This position oversees fundraising programs for key institutional priorities, the ongoing fundraising efforts of collaborating offices, advancement marketing and messaging, donor pipeline development, and high-net-worth (HNW) engagement strategies.

This individual will lead with unparalleled energy, creativity, and visionary leadership as they supervise a team of four to execute short-term and long-term development for George Fox Advancement.

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

  • Designing and Implementing Overarching Strategies for wide-reaching engagement to build donor pipelines :
  • Partnering closely with the Vice President to ensure all constituent engagement opportunities are created with an understanding of divisional needs and resources.
  • General Team Leadership :
  • Assisting the Vice President for Advancement in the setting of goals and meeting agendas, as well as development of meeting content for regular team meetings, and for subcommittees for the Board of Trustees (Advancement Committee and Presidential Advisory Council).
  • Fundraising Program Duties :
  • Partnering with the Director of Operations to identify pipeline and potential constituents for campaign priorities while overseeing the Office of Annual Giving, the Office of Alumni and Parent Engagement to successfully achieve their fundraising and programmatic goals within the campaign pipeline construct.
  • Supervising Staff :
  • Leading and inspiring Alumni and Parent Relations, Annual Giving, and Donor Relations to do their best work in support of the university and the strategic plan and to achieve the respective goals of their own offices.

Overseeing meaningful communication, volunteer opportunities, programming and events, and other initiatives in these areas.

  • Overseeing Parent Fundraising :
  • Establishing and directing a HNW parent strategy to include targeted communication and niche events, while collaborating closely with the Parent Relations office to achieve development department goals.
  • Overseeing Rollout and Campaign for George Fox Scholarship Fund and Crowdfunding Campaigns :
  • Overseeing and serving as the primary point of contact for all department-level fundraising.
  • Working varied shifts to include mornings, extended evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Traveling for work-related conferences, events, and visits as needed.
  • Maintaining an understanding of development best practices among Christian colleges.
  • Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
  • By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
  • Demonstrating awareness, respect, and appreciation for diversity of culture, background, race, sex, political views, expressions of faith, etc.

We're looking for candidates who have :

  • A Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Seven years of professional-level experience.
  • Complex program management or coordination experience.
  • Experience working in a university setting.
  • Experience working with high net worth individuals and groups.

  • A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church. In addition, employees agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.

Preference Will be Given to Those Who Have the Following Attributes :

  • Higher education fundraising experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability to develop strategic plans, implement programs, and motivate and manage individuals and teams.
  • Strong management skills and the proven ability to lead a team of individuals towards a common goal.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships individually and cross- departmentally and to ensure effective communication with team members and senior leaders.
  • Experience in campaign planning and implementation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • High level of creativity, initiative and motivation.
  • The ability and willingness to travel.

Job information :

  • Hours Per Week : 40 hours (1.0 FTE)
  • May be required to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Primary Work Location : Newberg Campus
  • Working Conditions : Physical requirements are those of a normal office environment.
