Job Summary : The Director of the Center for Service and Leadership provides administrative direction, leadership, and supervision for the Center for Service and Leadership (CSL).
Oversees and executes student service-learning and civic leadership related efforts with particular attention to serving as a clearinghouse for volunteerism, community outreach, civic engagement, service-learning, and civic leadership.
Strives to enhance the student experience through active engagement and civic leadership opportunities in the community.
Creates and implements meaningful and experiential learning opportunities that provide students the ability to enhance their leadership skills while becoming active, global citizens.
Additional Department Summary : Provides administrative direction, leadership, and supervision for the Center for Service and Leadership (CSL) as a member of the Student Engagement Team.
Oversees and executes student service-learning and civic leadership related efforts for the division of Student Life at The University of Alabama with particular attention to supporting and coordinating programmatic efforts that grow volunteerism, community outreach, civic engagement, service-learning, and civic leadership.
Strives to enhance the student experience through active engagement and civic leadership opportunities in the community.
Creates and implements meaningful and experiential learning opportunities that provide students the ability to enhance their leadership skills while becoming active, global citizens.
Works continually to cultivate and maintain reciprocal partnerships with community service agencies. Completes required training and promoting a safe, hospitable, and respectful workplace.
Holds staff accountable for completion of required training. Has personal accountability for financial reporting and responsibility for establishing, enforcing, and following internal processes and controls as outlined in UA policies and procedures.
Required Minimum Qualifications : Bachelor's degree and eight (8) years of student life / student affairs experience; OR master's degree and six (6) years of student life / student affairs experience.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications : Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies.

Skills and Knowledge : Demonstrated commitment to expanding multicultural knowledge, awareness, and skills as evidenced through demonstrating self-awareness;
understanding and valuing others; demonstrating knowledge of social inequalities; interacting effectively with people from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
Preferred Qualifications : Five (5) years of professional leadership experience in a higher education setting, specifically in an area of civic engagement, service-learning, community-based learning, specifically including leadership over a program, department, or unit.
