Housing Specialist Shalom House

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of individuals experiencing housing challenges? Shalom House is seeking a warm, empathetic, and dedicated Housing Specialist to join our team.

This full-time position, primarily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (with some flexibility as agreed upon with the Housing Specialist Manager), will serve York and Cumberland Counties.

What You’ll Do

As a Housing Specialist, you will support individuals facing housing instability or homelessness, assisting them on their journey to finding safe, stable housing.

You’ll work closely with community partners, landlords, and clients, offering compassionate service and applying your problem-solving skills to address challenges with patience and care.

Key Responsibilities

• Build strong relationships with clients and community partners to foster successful housing solutions.
• Work both independently and collaboratively, meeting deadlines, managing client documentation, and addressing client needs in a timely, confidential, and respectful manner.
• Demonstrate initiative and reliability, offering support to clients and promoting service improvement.
• Act with professionalism, exercising sound judgment and maintaining confidentiality for both client and office matters.
• Provide exceptional client service, setting appropriate boundaries and clear expectations.

Qualifications We’re Looking For

• Education and Experience : Business or social services degree preferred. Experience working with individuals experiencing disabilities or homelessness is highly valued.
• Skills : Excellent verbal and written communication, strong organizational skills, and computer literacy are essential.

We’re looking for a team player with a desire to work collaboratively while being comfortable in autonomous roles.

Competencies : Demonstrated professionalism, compassion, and dependability are essential. A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to manage mathematical calculations will be beneficial.
