A Brief Overview

Research Statistician I will develop and / or apply cutting-edge analytic methods to study pediatric big data including electronic medical records, insurance claims, imaging, and biobanks under the mentorship of Biostatistics faculty members Dr.

Jing Huang at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and The University of Pennsylvania (Penn). The statistician will collaborate with clinicians under the supervision of Dr. Huang.

As a principal investigator in the Pediatric section of the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Informatics at Penn Medicine and the Research Institute at the CHOP, Dr.

Huang’s research focuses on methodology and software development to understand the dynamics of disease activities and inform control policies using longitudinal health data.

She is a principal investigator of NIH and PCORI funded projects. She is also the lead Biostatistician on PolicyLab’s COVID-19 forecasting model, known as COVID-Lab : Mapping COVID-19 In Your Community .

• The Research Statistician I independently applies logic to set up cohort based on data plan provided. Manages and manipulates data;
• performs statistical programming using statistical software; learns and applies new statistical theory and techniques for ongoing projects or proposals;

conducts statistical analyses; and supports the preparation of manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals. The analyst works closely with senior statisticians in developing analytic plans and applying new and existing statistical methods.

• Performs other related duties as assigned or directed in order to meet the goals and objectives of the research group.

Education Qualifications

Master's Degree biostatistics, statistics, clinical epidemiology, health services research, economics or a related field Required

Experience Qualifications

• At least one (1) year Relevant experience. Required
• At least three (3) years Experience in base SAS, SAS / SQL, SAS / STAT, SAS / GRAPH and SAS MACROS Required

Skills and Abilities

• Statistical expertise in programming of common statistical methods in medical and clinical related research
• Familiar with database utilization in statistical analysis, like MS Access, FileMaker Pro, Oracle, MS SQL server
• Familiar with both UNIX system and Windows OS system
• High-level of personal initiative; ability to work independently as well as collaborate in teams and with people from all business areas
• Strong written and oral communication skills; must be able to communicate clearly
• Detail-oriented with excellent validation and documentation skills
