Position Summary

Montai Therapeutics is seeking an experienced Senior Manager to oversee our Compound Management function. This individual will help manage and grow Montai's small molecule compound library and inventory management systems in support of our screening campaigns and lead optimization projects.

The successful candidate will have substantial experience in all aspects of compound management in a fast-paced, small-molecule focused drug discovery environment.

The role will involve close collaboration with the biology, chemistry, and project teams to ensure they have rapid access to Montai's chemical inventory as compounds progress from screening campaigns through lead optimization and development candidate nomination.

Furthermore, the successful candidate will have excellent communication and collaboration skills, knowledge of R&D processes, and experience managing external CROs'

Responsibilities

  • Maintain strong business and operational relationships with compound management and chemical sourcing vendors to ensure competitive service levels and pricing
  • Drive implementation of industry best practices for library storage, reformatting, cherry picking, transport, QC
  • Ensure that compounds are maintained at appropriate stock levels according to program needs (e.g. core screening library, advancing hits, reference controls, scale-up intermediates)
  • Work closely with drug discovery teams to ensure that compounds efficiently get into assays to drive overall speed in our assay cascades
  • Work closely with data teams to ensure we have robust analytics on our library
  • Coordinate with synthesis and commercial partners to manage procurement and registration of compounds

Qualifications

  • BA / BS or MA / MS in Chemistry, Biology, Pharmacology, Biotechnology or related disciplines
  • 5+ years of experience in industrial Pharmaceutical / Biotech setting supporting HTS and management of small molecule chemical collections - work in core facilities is preferred
  • Fluent in industry standards and best practices for compound management technologies and methodologies including but not limited to :
  • Chemical storage conditions
  • Liquid handling and common container types across nL and uL and mL volumes
  • Handling of neat powders and films at mg, g and kg scales
  • Domestic and international shipping of research compounds
  • Inventory software
  • Basic cheminformatics
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to independently drive successful partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Diligent organization skills to manage many simultaneous work streams and keep diverse projects on track
  • Be able to report status and timeline on key deliverables to senior leadership regularly
