Posting Summary

This is an administrative position, reporting directly to the Dean. In this role, the Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs and Development is responsible for the ongoing mentoring and development of all faculty, including the provision of research and funding mentorship to research-focused faculty.

The Associate Dean will guide faculty through the RBHS reappointment and promotion process, assisting and guiding faculty in interpreting rank and promotion criteria, reappointment criteria, career planning, and preparing their tenure, promotion, or reappointment packet for submission.

In addition, the Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs will prepare drafts of the dean’s recommendation letters as an important aspect of the faculty hiring and appointment process, or as part of a recommended supplementary or out of cycle salary increase for faculty or academic leaders.

The Associate Dean of Faculty Affairs will also engage in other such activities as assigned by the Dean. Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

  • Mentor and guide faculty in understanding the criteria for rank, appointment, reappointment, and promotion;
  • Guide faculty in the development of their reappointment and promotion packets.
  • Provide expert mentorship to research-focused faculty related to programs of research, study design, competitive / federal funding opportunities, and grantsmanship.
  • Provide individual career / success plans for each faculty member;
  • Collaborate with the Dean to prepare first drafts of faculty appointment recommendation letters, drafts of the Dean promotion recommendation letters, and such.

To address the current and projected critical shortage of nurse faculty in the State of New Jersey by providing an incentive for persons to enter graduate nursing education programs by offering student loan redemption in exchange for full-time faculty employment at a school of nursing in the State of New Jersey for a five-year period following completion of the approved graduate degree program.
