Are you looking to take a leading role in roadway design? HNTB is delivering the most interesting and complex transportation projects in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
We're seeking a Project Engineer to join our Roadway Group in delivering the largest and most complex projects to our clients.
As Project Engineer, you will coordinate and deliver transportation engineering projects within scope, budget, and time schedules from initial start-up through project closeout.
These projects can range from small intersection and multimodal corridor improvement projects to large interchanges, multimodal improvements, and bridge reconstructions.
Projects can be either traditional delivery or Design-Build.
You will be a technical resource for the office, responsible for handling specific design aspects on projects related to roadway design and coordinating the technical and project deliverable efforts of assigned design team.
You will also work on the completion of planning-level studies where pedestrian, bicycle, and transit accommodations will need to be incorporated into concept level roadway designs.

What You'll Do :
Responsible for the planning and distribution of discipline-specific work, and adherence to the schedule and budget on projects.
Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation.
Assists with the development of scope of work and level of effort for projects and / or assignments within discipline.
Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team’s work within the technical discipline. Guides and mentors team to overall project objectives.
Coordinates technical aspects of project with client counterpart and teaming partners at staff level for work within the discipline.
Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
Performs other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need :
Master’s degree in Engineering and 5 years of relevant experience, or
PhD in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience
What You'll Bring :
Mentors less experienced engineers on technical designs
Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
Works collaboratively with the client to build effective relationships
Has experience incorporating safe, accessible facilities for pedestrians and bicycles into roadway designs.
Has experience on grade-separated interchanges or limited access highway design
Has experience incorporating transit-related elements such as bus stops and exclusive bus lanes into roadway designs.
Works collaboratively with clients, stakeholders, and other engineering disciplines to develop roadway designs that support mobility for all users.
What We Prefer :
8 years relevant experience
Professional Engineer (PE) certification
Highly knowledge of MassDOT and AASHTO project requirements
Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D
