General Purpose
Under general supervision of the Community and Economic Development Director; serves as the primary staff coordinator of Cottonwood Heights' Community Health Coalition, 'Health in the Heights.
The Community Health Coalition is a community informed, data-driven, evidence-based prevention model, used to bring partners together to review data, identify priorities and resources, and implement community action steps.
It is structured as a 'Communities That Care' (CTC) program within the Salt Lake County Health Department.
As such, this position will work closely with the Salt Lake County Health Department, as well as key community leaders, faith-based groups, local school leadership, community volunteers, and other stakeholders to develop, facilitate, and implement the goals and objectives of the Health in the Heights coalition.
HOURS
20-24 hours per week. Working schedule flexible with required final approval of Community & Economic Development Director.
Essential Functions
As the main representative of the Health in the Heights coalition, the selected candidate will do the following :
- Build engaged relationships with coalition members and other stakeholders to promote community-wide buy-in for the CTC program and strategies
- Assist with funding, resource development, media, marketing, and coalition outreach
- Coordinate and facilitate monthly coalition meetings, including scheduling, agenda preparation, attendance tracking, minutes taking, assignment follow-up, etc.
- Enter and track all data necessary for reports, including reporting requirements for grants
- Recruit, retain, and work with volunteer coalition members
- Lead the coalition in developing short and long-term goals, and facilitate progress in achieving these goals in a timely manner
- Answer incoming calls, emails, social media, and website messages related to the coalition
- Attend trainings in identified prevention and community coalition subjects and programs focused on substance use and suicide prevention
- Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience :
Bachelor's degree in public health, social work, or a related field.
One year of related experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :
- Ability to develop and maintain community partnerships
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Able to operate standard office equipment
- Demonstrated ability to handle stressful situations, negotiate and resolve conflicts, maintain confidentiality and respect, and observe organizational protocol
- Ability to perform responsibilities with integrity, aligning with the mission, vision, and values of Cottonwood Heights and the Salt Lake County Health Department
- Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, adjust as required by changing activities and events, and travel to work in various areas around Cottonwood Heights and Salt Lake County
- Will be required to work longer or irregular work hours seasonally including holding meetings in the evening, or overnight travel for activities or training
Desired Qualifications :
- Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office and Google Suite.
- Knowledge of State and local laws and legal processes associated with duties described above and with maintenance of public records, public meeting requirements, and documents.
- Must possess a valid driver's license, current auto insurance, and daily access to a reliable vehicle.
- Pass background check.
This position is funded in full through a grant provided by the Salt Lake County Community Health Coalition. As such, employment is contingent upon the continuation of grant funding.
Currently, only one-year has been subsidized for the current position.
Work Environment :
Incumbent of the position performs in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls. Tasks require a variety of physical activities not generally involving muscular strain, such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing and seeing.
May involve lifting up to 50 pounds. Rapid work speed required to perform keyboard operations. Common eye, hand, finger, leg and foot dexterity exists.
Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, discriminating thinking and some guided problem solving.
Tasks may require weekly local travel outside of the office and may include posting of public notice signs on properties that have made land use applications.
