This position plays a critical role in executing the transportation, logistics, and dock needs of the organization on a day-to-day basis.
Primary area of focus includes daily oversight of the loading docks while ensuring timely and accurate deliveries to our customers.
Communicate and coordinate with the Warehouse, Dispatch, and Production departments to address pain-points and contribute to solutions.
The Dock Lead will positively demonstrate and model behavior consistent with departmental core values of safety / compliance, accuracy, and communication.
Schedule :
Tuesday-Saturday (Tues-Fri 8am-5 : 00pm, Sat 5am-1pm)
Responsibilities :
- Recommend policy, staffing, equipment recommendations to the Transportation Manager.
- Adhere to safety initiatives and policies to display safety culture throughout department.
- Occasionally assemble data for accident / insurance investigations.
- Assist Transportation Manager in ensuring drivers are properly trained on departmental policies and procedures.
- Assist Transportation Manager with continuous process improvement initiatives for the delivery drivers. Assist with creating and enforcing action plans when improvement opportunities are identified.
- Coach delivery drivers through clear communication on performance expectations and daily goals.
- Champion a data driven culture and approach to all decision making.
- Communicate in a timely manner to internal and external customers.
- Communicate with Warehouse leadership about daily routing movements and shipping pain-points.
- Oversee / assist with cross-dock local deliveries, Order entry and labeling.
- Second, and late runs expediting, rotating trucks through loading rounds,
- Make final call when to load a route.
- Move pallets as needed to free up scanners and checkers.
- Scanning, sorting, with warehouse team
- Monitor the dock for late route adds from dispatch.
- Wrap and state pallets as needed.
- Dispatch Lead Saturdays
- Dock maintenance
- Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
