Planet designs, builds, and operates imaging satellites to deliver a dataset via a cloud-based platform for commercial, environmental, and humanitarian use. Planet is a global company with remote employees and offices in San Francisco, Washington DC, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, and The Netherlands. This is a full-time, hybrid role requiring you to work from the San Francisco office 3 days per week.
Planet is seeking a full-stack Social Media Manager to join the Communications and Marketing team. The ideal candidate is passionate about Planet’s mission, space, rocket launches, global events, and thrives in people-oriented environments. You will lead the social voice for a company at the intersection of tech, defense, and AI, turning complex technical concepts into engaging, global content for customers, investors, and the public.
We seek strategic, digitally savvy, and data-driven professionals who can craft a compelling brand voice and amplify our mission across all social channels, from X to LinkedIn. A passion for storytelling and strong collaboration and planning skills are essential.
Responsibilities Develop and execute a comprehensive social media strategy for Planet's corporate brand and executive presence (starting with the CEO).
Lead social media across corporate channels including X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Reddit, and YouTube.
Create and manage executive social media presence on X and LinkedIn, including content strategy, ghostwriting, and community engagement.
Oversee day-to-day social media operations : content creation, light video creation / editing, scheduling, publishing, community management, and real-time monitoring.
Partner with Marketing, Government Affairs, and Product to align social efforts with business goals and campaigns.
Collaborate with Marketing video content creators to produce engaging content for Planet’s audiences.
Analyze metrics and trends to inform strategy, optimize performance, and report KPIs to leadership.
Identify and manage proactive brand moments and provide reactive support for issues.
Stay up-to-date on cultural and social media trends to identify real-time moments that increase brand awareness.
What You Bring 6+ years of experience in social media management, including campaigns, community management, and audience engagement for a technology company.
Exceptional writing skills for short and long-form digital content, including social copy, video scripts, and executive communications.
Experience in executive social media support, including ghostwriting and building a personal brand.
Strategic and creative thinking with the ability to develop integrated digital programs that align with business goals.
Strong analytical skills with experience using social media analytics tools.
Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud to produce graphics and videos for social media.
Flexibility and resourcefulness to work in a collaborative and dynamic environment.
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, or a related field.

Compensation The US base salary range for this full-time position at the commencement of employment is listed below. The final salary range is determined by experience, skills and location. This role may be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives (bonus and equity). Salary range for San Francisco : $114,200—$142,700 USD.
