Job Description :
We are seeking a Procurement Director to oversee and manage all aspects of our product procurement process. In this role, you will be responsible for negotiating with manufacturers, leading a team of staff members, and achieving corporate goals set by senior management.
Your main aim will be to ensure corporate profitability through effective vendor bill-back and inbound freight programs, as well as the development and execution of annual marketing initiatives.
Additionally, you will manage the product portfolio to meet customer needs and maximize earnings at both the local and corporate levels.
You will also be involved in conducting product cuttings with current and potential customers to maintain and expand our customer base.
As a key member of the senior leadership team and reporting directly to the President, you will oversee the Marketing Department staff and provide direction to the Sales Support staff.
Your responsibilities will include managing performance metrics, expense and revenue management, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and government regulations.
Your duties will involve supervising associates, including tasks such as staffing, training, coaching, performance management, and problem resolution.
You will also be responsible for maintaining an optimal level of inventory to support the company's financial position and negotiating with vendors for the best prices and programs.
Additionally, you will handle the disposal of proprietary inventory from lost customers and manage inventory levels to achieve optimum cash flow and service levels.
An important aspect of this role is building positive relationships with customers and vendors by providing accurate and timely responses to their inquiries.
You will also establish procedures to increase the efficiency of the purchasing department and ensure it operates at the highest level of productivity.
To succeed in this role, you should have a strong understanding of the food distribution industry and continuously develop your knowledge in the foodservice sector.
You may also be responsible for managing the marketing and merchandising function and overseeing the logistics department's operations to maximize control of inbound freight.
You will actively participate in various marketing functions, such as Food Shows, Market Focused Shows, Sales Incentive Promotions, Customer Focused Promotions, New Product Launches, and Segmented Catalogs.
Additionally, you will work to maximize vendor financial participation and activity, as well as lead strategic bid analysis for large potential and existing customers.
Finally, you will contribute to the growth and development of our exclusive brands.
