As a Facility Care Specialist, who floats from building to building, the duties may vary depending on the specific needs of each location.

However, here are some common duties that such an individual might be responsible for :

Cleaning and Sanitizing :

  • Perform general cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, mopping, sweeping, and dusting to maintain cleanliness in various areas of each building.
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, including toilets, sinks, mirrors, and floors, ensuring they meet hygiene standards.

Trash Removal :

  • Empty trash cans and recycling bins throughout each building, disposing of waste in designated areas or dumpsters.
  • Replace trash liners as needed to maintain cleanliness and prevent odors.

Surface Cleaning :

  • Wipe down surfaces such as desks, countertops, tables, and chairs to remove dust, dirt, and debris.
  • Disinfect high-touch surfaces, such as door handles, light switches, and handrails, to prevent the spread of germs and bacteria.

Floor Care :

  • Sweep and mop hard surface floors, paying special attention to high-traffic areas and spills.
  • Vacuum carpets and rugs to remove dirt and debris, and spot clean stains as necessary.

Window and Glass Cleaning :

  • Clean windows, glass doors, and mirrors using appropriate cleaning solutions and tools to achieve streak-free results.
  • Ensure that glass surfaces are free of smudges, fingerprints, and other marks.

Restocking Supplies :

  • Check and replenish supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, soap, and hand sanitizer in restrooms and other common areas.
  • Monitor inventory levels and report any supply shortages to the appropriate supervisor.

Light Maintenance Tasks :

  • Perform minor maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, replacing air filters, and unclogging drains as needed.
  • Report any maintenance issues or safety hazards to the appropriate personnel for resolution.

Adhering to Safety Procedures :

  • Follow safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required and exercise caution when working with cleaning chemicals and equipment.

Communication :

  • Maintain open communication with supervisors, colleagues, and building occupants to address any concerns or special requests.
  • Provide feedback on the condition of each building and any maintenance issues that may arise during your shifts.

Flexibility and Adaptability :

  • Be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and schedules, as you may need to switch between buildings or tasks based on operational needs.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively to ensure that cleaning duties are completed efficiently in each location.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED preferred; prior janitorial cleaning experience highly desired.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have reliable transportation to travel to multiple buildings.
  • Successfully complete and pass a background check.
  • Must be reliable, punctual and willing to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to listen to customer requests and follow supervisor’s directions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands are representative of requirements that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Frequent walking on hard surfaces, standing, bending, lifting and repeating cleaning motions for extended periods of time.

Use of commercial cleaning equipment. Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.

ENVIRONMENT

Exposure to cleaning supplies and equipment, fumes or airborne particles (dust), moderate to loud noises and a fast-paced environment .
