Reporting to our VP of Operations and Strategy , the Director of Business Intelligence will lead a team of data analysts to deliver high-value analysis and reporting that enables decision-makers across the company.
This individual will be responsible for developing a deep understanding of the levers of our business and leading a team to deliver accurate, actionable insights to enable Begin’s growth.
The position requires a strategic thinker with proven experience in managing analysts, producing and socializing actionable analyses, and delivering insights from variable data sources.
The ability to collaborate cross-functionally, including excellent communication skills, is a must.
You will :
- Lead the Business Intelligence function for all of Begin, coaching and enabling a team of data analysts to produce data products that inform Begin, Little Passports, HOMER and codeSpark brands.
- Develop a deep understanding of Begin’s business needs, data architecture, and data literacy to build data products that enable the business to make decisions quickly and confidently.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the company, such as Marketing, Learning, Product Management to understand and solution data needs, balancing the short and long term.
- Roll up your sleeves and create your own analyses, including leading ad hoc investigations when performance or other issues arrive, coordinating multiple functions to find the solution.
- Lead and iterate on the process for how work gets done, actively prioritizing the analyst team’s work to balance short and long term business needs.
- Partner closely with Data engineering to build an architecture and process that supports the present and future of the business, acting as a crucial link between stakeholders and the DE team.
Must Haves :
- 10+ years of business intelligence experience, including hands-on experience using statistical techniques to translate complex data sets into simple business recommendations.
- 3+ years experience leading and developing teams of analysts.
- Best-in-class analytical rigor and a passion for using data to find opportunities and insights others can’t see.
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams in highly-complex data environments.
- Strong experience with SQL and data viz tools, with the ability to write efficient queries on large data sets.
- Highly adaptable, strategic mindset, with an entrepreneurial attitude.
Nice-to-Haves :
- Experience in data leadership in startup environments.
- Familiarity with Python, enough to coach and edit.
- Experience with membership-based business models.
