SUMMARY
The purpose of the position is to assist the Media Director with the duties and responsibilities of the Media Services Department.
Media Services acts as the communication liaison to the Meskwaki Nation. Its mission is to support Tribal operations, its departments, and the community as a whole with its communication needs.
Media Services is primarily tasked with the creation of the Meskwaki Nation Times (a monthly publication), as well as the creation and upkeep of the tribe's websites, event calendars and social media sites.
Media Services provides media coverage, photography and video for events within the community and is available to Tribal Operation's departments to help create flyers, write articles and news releases, create graphics, take pictures, create videos, prepare mailings to its members, and create / complete other communications projects as requested by Tribal Council, Tribal Operation's departments and the community.
This position's primary focus is to capture events and programming through Livestreaming and audio / visual production.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Responsible for the coordination of Livestream events (webcast); leading in the set-up of equipment, production / recording and archiving of events.
- Operates video cameras, on location or in a studio setting, in the production of professional pre-recorded programming.
- Designs, transports, sets up, and operates production equipment, including audio and lighting equipment, for field and studio productions.
- Records and edits video and sound projects, including selecting program format for final output, capturing / importing media, organizing raw media, editing footage and sound files, creating and inserting static and motion graphics, titling, and adding music / voice-over / sound effects.
- Responsible for archiving videos and up-keep of created digital content.
- Responsible for the department's video and audio equipment including its cleaning, upkeep, procurement, storage and accountability.
- Acts as lead videographer assisting with the coordination of media coverage to community events by attending events, operating video cameras and other recording devices, photography, and assisting the Media Director as necessary.
- Creates, produces and distributes audio / video podcasts designed to communicate and educate the Meskwaki community regarding programming available to them via a password protected area of the Tribe's website.
- Assists the Media Director with development, printing and distribution of monthly newsletter including all processes : article submission, graphic design and image creation, photo submission, compilation and distribution.
- Assists the Media Service team by creating flyers, creating graphics, preparing mailings to members, and completing other communication projects as assigned.
- Assists the Media Director in writing articles about the events and distributing event information via community outlets (newsletter, social media, website, interoffice email, etc.) on a timely basis.
- Assists in meeting program objectives by supporting the Meskwaki Nation's strategic plan and attending all required meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS :
- 2 year Communication or Arts degree and 2 years' professional experience in video, film, sound production, audio visual, graphic design or equivalent or 4 years' professional experience in video, film, sound production, audio visual, graphic design or equivalent.
- Knowledgeable in Adobe Software Packages (Premiere Pro, Rush, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and / or other PC compatible software.
- Knowledgeable and proficient working with computers using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Internet and email.
- Experience utilizing social media outlets (Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, etc.).
- Experience using Audio / Visual equipment (video camera, camera, microphones, mixer equipment, PA systems, etc.).
- Experience with various multimedia devices (digital camera, lenses, tripods, memory cards, hard drives).
- Must be able to work and communicate with general public.
- Must be flexible and available to work outside regular business hours.
- Must have physical abilities including the ability to sit for extended period of time, walk stairs, carry items up to 30 lbs.
