Utility Equipment Electrician

Position Summary

Perform as a skilled electrician in all phases of utility equipment electrical maintenance, construction, repair, and other activities related to the trade.

Position is responsible for utility electrical system compliance and electrical distribution operation for the Utility Plant that serves the UNMC / NE Med Campus

Electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and installation will be on pumps and motors of all sizes and horsepower, boiler equipment, chillers, support equipment, variable frequency drives, motor control centers, large motor maintenance, and 5KV emergency diesel generators.

Will consider four years related post high school education / experience) Required Experience 2 years If any experience is required, please specify what kind of experience : Responsible experience as an electrician, in a commercial and / or industrial environment.

1. Valid City of Omaha or State of Nebraska Journeyman’s or Electrical Contractor License.

2. Valid driver’s license.

Required Computer Applications : Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook Required Other Computer Applications : Required Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities : 1.

Knowledge of Motor Control Centers and Variable Speed Drives and ability to troubleshoot.

2. Knowledge of Automatic Transfer Switches and ability to troubleshoot.

3. Knowledge of High Voltage Distribution (15 kv and 5 kv ) controls and ability to troubleshoot.

4. Knowledge of applications and installation of electrical metering devices.

5. Ability to demonstrate analytical skills and use of electronic test equipment.

Preferred Education : Relevant coursework / specialized training If any degree / training is preferred, please specify the type : Related education in industrial electric maintenance, motor maintenance, balancing, alignment, and / or vibration analysis.

Preferred Experience : Utility or Industrial plant experience Preferred License : Yes If yes, what is the preferred licensure / certification?

Third Grade Engineer license

VFD factory authorized start-up technician within 6 months of hire. Preferred Computer Applications : Not Applicable Preferred Other Computer Applications : Knowledge of computers and data management software helpful.
