Fort Collins Veterinary Emergency Hospital is seeking a motivated individual to join our Patient Care Team as a full-time Veterinary Assistant / Customer Service Representative who will be cross trained to work in both departments.

This position is ideal for someone working towards long term career goals in the veterinary industry.

Role Responsibilities :

  • Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
  • With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
  • Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on medications, and additional treatments.
  • Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
  • Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
  • Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
  • Be willing to guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.

Experience & Skills Requirements :

  • Has a minimum of 12 months of clinical veterinary or animal handling experience
  • Familiar with common disease processes that present to emergency service with an understanding of treatments and medications associated with their care.
  • Administer medications, and treatments prescribed by a veterinarian
  • Possesses a positive work attitude
  • Self-motivated
  • Excellent communication and organization skills
  • Is committed to a stress-free environment for our patients
  • Enjoys working in a fast-paced environment
  • Willing to work swing shifts, weekends and holidays

Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience with an hourly pay rate starting at $17 / hour. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
