Job Description and Duties

Patton State Hospital, Human Resources Department, is accepting applications for at least one (1) Permanent, Full-Time appointment to the Associate Governmental Program Analyst classification in the Standards Compliance - Health and Safety Department.

May also consider a highly qualified Staff Services Analyst. This position reports directly to the Health and Safety Officer.

Applicant must possess the following qualifications and knowledge : skill and ability to analyze, evaluate develop and implement the Injury and Illness Prevention Plan in order to meet compliance expectations by the California Occupational Safety and Health Appeals Board (Cal-OSHA).

  • Responsibilities include analysis of necessary safeguards to prevent workplace safety hazards, such as slips, trips and falls, patient assaults on employees and other work-related injuries / illnesses;
  • working with medical / clinical and administrative personnel to mitigate risks related to workplace violence; planning, organizing, and conducting an environmental and occupational health and injury prevention safety program;

gathering and analyzing injury data to perform trend analysis and assessment of potential safety risks; recommending and monitoring actions to reduce, mitigate, and / or avoid safety risks.

Must be willing to lead and conduct environmental inspections in the Enhanced Treatment Area (ETA). The IIPP Coordinator also assists with the DSH-Patton Workplace Violence Prevention Program.

Computer proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel programs is desired.

The successful candidate will be required to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor. The analyst must possess excellent oral and written communication skills;

display strong analytical and statistical abilities; have excellent problem solving and organizational skills, ability to multi-task and work well under pressure.

The incumbent must have excellent interpersonal skills and work with all levels of hospital management. Excellent attendance and dependability is critical and a must for this position and level of responsibility.

Working Conditions

Patton is a forensic psychiatric hospital and was established in 1890 and opened in 1893. DSH-Patton provides treatment to forensically and civilly committed patients within a secure treatment area.

The hospital does not accept voluntary admissions.
