Tekni-Plex's Winston Salem location is the largest facility within the Consumer Products division. The Slitter Operator is responsible for packaging, palletizing, unloading and sleeving product from production equipment.

SUMMARY

Position is responsible for packaging, palletizing, unloading and sleeving product from production equipment. Expected to assist in the operation of all manufacturing process equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assists Production Tech with order processing, changes and set-up.
  • Bags, boxes or palletizes finished product.
  • Performs quality inspections and tests.
  • Positions sheet rolls on unwind stand and starts sheet into formers and through the trim press.
  • Assists in the production and operation of manufacturing process equipment.
  • Prepares production logs, product tags and time cards as necessary.
  • Operates scrap grinder as required and understands recycle system.
  • Follows and participates in plant safe housekeeping guidelines designed to ensure a safe work environment.
  • Remains compliant with SQF / BRC / HACCP requirements as per this location’s written Food Safety & Quality Policy

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE

Successful completion of the Packer I skills assessment and the Production Operator I assessment for either forming, printing, lamination or extrusion.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to print simple sentences and legibly complete reports and time cards.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal instructions.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract three digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.

Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, volume, and distance.

  • Ability to measure within a 64th of an inch and other measurements in metrics.
  • Ability to convert a fraction to a decimal within 64th of an inch

REASONING ABILITY

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in standardized situations.
