Havenwyck Hospital is seeking a talented and dynamic Intake and Assessment Manager to join our team of compassionate, dedicated professionals!
Monday-Friday, dayshift. Ideal candidate has flexibility for varied shifts / weekends dependent upon the needs of the facility.
Havenwyck Hospital is a Joint Commission-accredited and licensed psychiatric hospital, overlooking Lake Galloway in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

POSITION SUMMARY :
The Intake and Assessment Manager is responsible for supervising the Assessment & Referral and Admitting department staff in coordination with the Director and in the absence of the Director.
This position contributes in management activities and meetings to assist with the implementation and upholding of the organization’s policies and procedures.
He / she is also responsible for completing initial pre-authorizations reviews with insurances or the appropriate Community Mental Health as needed.
The position will provide assistance with scheduling staff and all duties in Assessment & Referral and Admitting Departments.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE; BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO :
- Supervises the Assessment & Referral and Admitting department employees in their daily activities in the director’s absence.
- Provides feedback to the director for the Assessment & Referral and Admitting staff performance evaluations completed annually.
- Educates and supervises staff in compliance with staff development in-service programs.
- Obtains pre-certification as needed for patients being admitted into the hospital for care.
- Works in partnership with UM team on issues with new admissions, missing authorizations and / or delays in securing authorizations, as needed.
- Has a working knowledge of insurance verification and benefits.
- Provides consultation to intake and admitting staff regarding referral information and screenings.
- Performs audits on the intake call log, including correcting discrepancies, and educating staff on inconsistencies.
- Provides information to patients and referral sources regarding treatment programs, insurance information and admission procedures.
- Communicates with physicians, program directors, charge nurses, etc. regarding anticipated admissions.
- Provides follow up to referral sources and patients awaiting admission.
- Performs phone screening evaluations to determine appropriateness of admission to the hospital, in consultation with the staff psychiatrist or Medical Director.
- Provides referral assistance for patients assessed as being inappropriate for admission.
- Maintains accurate census board and reports for senior management.
- Participates in marketing projects as necessary.
- Coordinates admitting services to attain payor-mix and census objectives.
- Collects records and analyzes admitting statistics and reports these to required offices.
- Facilitates increased community relations with referral sources, patients adn families.
- May be required to work on call.

About Universal Health Services (UHS) :
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or Master’s degree in Social Work is required.
- Minimum of one year of clinical and management experience in an inpatient pschiatric facility is preferred.
- At least two to five years of clinical experience in a medical hospital setting is required.
- Valid license as a Registered Nurse or Social Worker (LLMSW) in the State of Michigan is required, Fully Licensed Social Worker (LMSW) is preferred.
- Employees must be in good standing (employment / corrective action history, evaluation, etc.) to be considered for internal transfers.
