The Fine Art Group offers hands-on internships for recent graduates and individuals with diverse backgrounds in the art world.

This program provides first-hand experience in TFG’s appraisal, art advisory, agency, marketing, and business development divisions, in which the interns work directly with the corresponding advisors and teams.

Selected candidates must possess an exceptional work ethic, excellent time management skills, and a detail-oriented and professional demeanor, taking accountability for their tasks.

Candidates should demonstrate an interest in art through work experience or studies and be motivated to excel in the gallery and auction market.

Proficiency in MS Office, Photoshop, and Adobe Creative.

TFG internships last from 3-4 months and are offered as Monday thru Friday positions.

Appraisal Management Focus

Hybrid position allowed Philadelphia Metro Area

The Appraisal Management Intern will support the Appraisal and Advisory Departments by working with our team of experienced art appraisers.

We seek a detail-oriented intern with a keen interest in and knowledge of art and antiques. The selected candidate should also have an outstanding work ethic, efficient time management, and collaboration in teamwork.

Intern responsibilities include :

  • Researching and cataloging antiques.
  • Assisting with on-site client visits and appraisals.
  • Formatting / editing documents and images for internal system tracking.

The intern will also collaborate with other departments to provide administrative and operational support.

Advisory Focus

Hybrid position allowed New York City Only

The Advisory Intern will support the Advisory Department by working with our team of experienced art advisors. We seek a detail-oriented intern with a keen interest in and solid background in art history and antiques.

The selected candidate should have outstanding work ethic and time management skills.

This position is responsible for researching and cataloging antiques, updating client information in the CRM system, and maintaining 1stDibs accounts.

The selected candidate is also responsible for creating client presentations, editing photos and documents, photographing items and artworks, and placing global exhibition consignments.

They will also collaborate with other departments, including marketing and general operations, to provide administrative and operational support.

Agency Focus

Hybrid position allowed New York City / Northeast Coast

Our internship provides the opportunity to gain first-hand experience in all the core elements of the art agency division of the firm.

The intern will work directly with the extended art agency team. Knowledge of Art History and Auction Experience is essential and an academic specialization or practical experience in art advisory is a plus.

We are looking for interns who :

  • Auction & Collections Management experience highly recommended
  • Has a keen interest in and knowledge of fine art (AND / OR antiques, tangible assets, collectibles etc.)
  • Has an outstanding work ethic and know how to prioritize and manage their time efficiently and effectively
  • Would be described by their peers as "detail-oriented," professional," and "accountable"
  • Is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and thrive managing multiple projects on tight deadlines
  • Is a team player and has the ability to take initiative and think creatively while working autonomously
  • Is excited to be a collaborative member of the team and learn the ins and outs of the Art Advisory & Agency industry
  • Has a keen interest and corresponding work experience and / or studies in art history.
  • Is motivated and interested in both the gallery and auction markets and is keen to work in these markets.
  • Computer skills Apple Mac OS, MS Office, Photoshop, Internet savvy

Intern Training Opportunities and responsibilities may include :

  • Research and catalogue valuable collectibles and fine art
  • Maintain and update agency clients in PMA database as well as share drive
  • Formatting and editing documents for grammatical and spelling errors
  • Photoshopping, editing, and cropping images
  • Photographing of art and objects
  • Create client presentations via PowerPoint or Word, as needed
  • Help track our IC due for each sale and follow-up with auction houses for any missing or late payments
  • Assist in managing and placing consignments in exhibitions and museums globally
  • Provide administrative & operational support to the staff as needed

Art Marketing & Business Development Focus

Hybrid position allowed East Coast

The Art Marketing Intern will support the Marketing Department and work closely with the Business Management and Operation departments.

We seek a detail-oriented intern with an interdisciplinary background in art and marketing / management with a keen interest in art and antiques.

The ideal candidate should have experience in design and marketing platforms such as Adobe Creative Suite, Mailchimp, or similar newsletter software, and WordPress.

They should also have an outstanding work ethic, efficient time management, and be collaborative.

The Art Marketing Intern will analyze marketing data and produce reports, research digital and social media marketing keywords, and maintain websites and mailing lists.

The Marketing Intern is also responsible for social media graphics, creative designs in Adobe Creative Suite, and some minor video editing.

They will collaborate with the Advisory and Appraisal teams and general operations to provide administrative and operational support.

Jewelry Focus

Hybrid position allowed East Coast

We are looking for interns who : · Have a keen interest in and knowledge of jewelry, watches and luxury accessories· Are comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and thrive managing multiple projects on tight deadlines· Are a team player and take initiative while working autonomously· A current or future candidate for a Graduate Gemologist degree in the Jewelry Industry· Previous experience with diamonds, colored stones, signed jewelry preferred but not necessary· Some hands-on experience with the jewelry retail industry· Working knowledge of contemporary, antique, and vintage jewelry preferred· Strong sense of professionalism;

excellent communication, client service and social skills

Key Responsibilities : · Assist our Advisory team with reviewing auctions for possible acquisitions· Assist with market reports· Assist our Agency team with placement of pieces for sale· Assist our Director of Jewelry and Watches with gemology work associated with the evaluation of assets including gem identification, carat weight calculation, grading, cataloging consigned property, researching authenticity, provenance and reviewing client inquiries to determine sale potential· Assist our Director of Jewelry and Watches with research and catalogue of assets to assist in providing valuation for IRS (estate tax, gift tax, donation, etc.

and insurance appraisals· Assist with client inquiries regarding appraisal services, consignments, and auctions
