The is looking for an enthusiastic communications professional who can contribute to developing and implementing social media strategies that raise the profile of our organization and position us as the leading global public health policy organization.

We want someone with a communications or related degree and at least 4 years of experience who is excited about using their skills in a dynamic, growing organization to support our mission : saving lives from solvable public health challenges.

The Associate Director of International Digital Engagement (Associate Director) will serve as a vital member of the International Communications team implementing a social media strategy to help Tobacco-Free Kids position itself as a thought leader, appeal to new institutional partners, and diversify our funders.

Tobacco-Free Kids is a partner in the The Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids is fighting for a world free of the death and disease caused by tobacco.

We work in low- and middle-income countries where over 80 percent of the world’s smokers live to support the adoption and implementation of proven solutions that reduce tobacco use and save lives.

We have worked with local partners and allies in low- and middle-income countries to prevent over 35 million premature deaths!Working primarily with the International Communications team comprised of staff in DC and communications colleagues around the world, the Associate Director will play a critical role in a fast-paced, always-changing program.

The Associate Director will have primary responsibility for implementing the global tobacco control program’s new social media strategy, setting up new social media channels and collaborating on existing channels, and working with staff throughout the organization to set up content streams and calendars.

Reporting to the Vice President of Global Communications and working closely with social media staff in other departments, the Associate Director will :

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH

  • Help manage the implementation of the global tobacco control department’s new social media strategy and content plan.
  • Help strategize, write, and design digital content to build meaningful engagement among followers and ensure we reach target audiences.
  • Create and manage advertising / boosting strategy.
  • Set up and oversee best-practice systems for monitoring and acting on engagement metrics and other indicators of social media performance.
  • Contribute to high-level digital reporting to leadership, including performance insights from digital ads and social content.
  • Stay apprised of and advise on external trends and developments affecting GHAI’s digital presence.
  • With other departments, monitor and coordinate responses to tobacco industry activities in the digital space.
  • Help work with in country team, teams in Washington, DC, and our programs and colleagues in the field to set up content streams for our social media channels;

also to train these teams and colleagues to plan and consistently provide high-quality content for social media channels

  • Proactively engage with thought leaders and peer organizations online.
  • Participate in various internal meetings including digital team meetings, meetings with consultants, and broader communications meetings.

Participate in strategic planning for social media around organization-wide events and priorities.

  • Contribute to monthly communications calendar.
  • Support light graphic design work as needed.
  • Working knowledge of, or willingness to learn, graphic design utilities.
  • Manage vendors including graphic designers and others.
  • Other duties as assigned.

SKILLS YOU'LL BRING TO THE ROLE :

  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum five (5) to seven (7) years of relevant social media experience.
  • Excellent writing, editing and project management skills, with emphasis on writing and editing for digital media.
  • Excellent communications, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and work collaboratively in fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency with relevant computer software applications, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
  • Graphic design or video production skills a plus.
