1. General job duties. Types of procedures required.
quicker turnover, general MS, pre surgical patients- waiting to go to OR, fractures / ortho, onc, GI, GU, Acute on Chronic issues, etc.
Stable Medsurg type patients. ED boarder can see 10-40 patients coming in over a day
2. Equipment utilized in the unit / dept. (Is there computerized charting, medication systems, etc.)
Bipap, cpap, high flow. Any more specialty requirements would be higher level of care
3. Required skills and minimum years of experience.
1 year minimum in medsurg level I / II trauma facility, 2 years preferred.
4. Specific licensures and certifications / registrations required. (ARRT, CRT, BLS, ACLS, etc)
BLS, IN or Compact license
5. Shift or schedule requirements. (Will the employee ever work alone? Is call required? If so, how often? Are weekends required?)
12 hour shifts. Must work 3 weekend shifts within a 4 week schedule
6. Floating to other units / departments. (If so, to which units / departments?)
Medsurg units as / when needed if census for Boarder is lower
7. Bed size / number of rooms for this unit / dept.
8. Nurse to patient ratio of this unit. (nursing only)
5-6 : 1, high patient turnover as these are waiting for beds so will be moved to other floor once a bed is ready.

Caribbean blue scrubs
