- Summary : Provides Speech Language Pathology services to patients of all ages including adolescents, adults and geriatric patients who are referred;
- Evaluates disorders of speech, articulation, fluency, voice, language, oral pharyngeal function or cognitive communicative function of the patient;
- Develops goals and treatment plan in conjunction with the patient and family / significant other; Executes treatment program;
Provides education to patients, families and caregivers; Supervises Speech Language Pathology students and support staff in compliance with hospital and state regulatory policies.
Must meet departmental per diem requirements as set forth by management.
Education : Master's degree in Speech Language Pathology from a Speech Language Pathology program accredited by the American Speech and Hearing Association;
Passing score on ASHA national exam; Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association, Clinical Fellows considered.
Licensure : License and / or eligible for licensure as a Speech Language Pathologist from the Department of Health, Division of Professional Regulation, State of Rhode Island and Providence Plantations. BLS required.
Experience : One year experience preferred.

- Swallow studies; ability to develop a therapeutic relationship with a variety of patients
- Skills in organization, time management and priority setting.
- Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with peers and other disciplines.
- Ability to utilize sound interpersonal skills when interacting with patients and caregivers and demonstrating sensitivity to age, spiritual, and cultural diversity of customers
- Ability to instruct patients, caregivers and their families
- Proficiency in English grammar, spelling & punctuation
- Maintains information confidential (HIPAA)
- Demonstrated customer service skills
- Ability to utilize responsive customer service skills when interacting and taking into consideration cultural background, linguistic skills and age of customers
- Ability to work cooperatively with peers and other disciplines
- Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with peers and other interdisciplinary teams.
Working Conditions, Physical Environment and / or Safety Requirements : This position may require duties including lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
