Position Description
The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading the teams responsible for executing new product development and innovation initiatives, as well as working with the manufacturing on process improvement and optimization.
This is accomplished by leading, supporting, and empowering the Engineering team and adjacent teams. The Engineering Manager also must work collaboratively with all teams to deliver new, quality products and other specialized deliverables to our internal and external customers in expected time frames.

Job Responsibilities
- Provides guidance and approval regarding technical vision, strategies, and approaches.
- Manages and develops the department’s resources intending to meet or exceed all deadlines and expectations.
- Manages new concepts and product development within the functional group.
- Accurately maintains all Engineering and R&D project records.
- Proactively provides status reports to the executive team and all customers of the Engineering group.
- Collaborates with cross-functional groups to achieve project objectives.
- Conducts research in areas including firearm and suppressor technology, sound, function, data collection methodologies, and processes.
- Researches new materials and processes for the development of innovations.
- Identifies and advances quality and process improvement opportunities.
- Keeps current with changes in technologies and regulations.
- Leads and mentors direct reports while providing developmental opportunities when available.
- Leads the team by example on documentation, process, controls, and manufacturability of all products and processes.
- Manages the technical excellence of functional deliverables.
- Works with Business Development (BD) and Legal on intellectual property submissions.
- Provides guidance and training to staff, assists subordinates in attaining career goals, motivates individuals to achieve results, and recruits and develops a high-performing team.
- Assists in identifying and developing department tools and departmental standards.
- Assists in and / or completes the development of budgets and monitors spending.
- Assists in and / or determines appropriate staff levels, schedules, and resources. Works with project managers to understand priorities and plan resource and time allocation accordingly.
- Collaboratively determines project staff assignments and schedules work to meet completion dates and project deliverables.
- Establishes and enhances cross-functional team relationships.
- Works cross-functionally in identifying and resolving technical issues.
- Monitors and evaluates the project and department progress and results.
- Monitors and improves business processes.
- Strong verbal & written communication and reporting / presentation skills.
- Regularly attend monthly KPI meetings prepared to share the results of your team’s KPIs, and recognize the top performers on your team who were high contributors to KPIs.
- Participate in organizational performance evaluations. Responsible for assessing team performance and providing feedback to employees.

- Bachelor's degree or equivalent education in an Engineering related field.
- Minimum of 7+ years of project management experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
- Experience bringing best in class products to market.
- Firearms experience required.
