Full-time

Position Description

The Department of Neurology at Washington University in St. Louis, The DRIVES Project, and the ARCHES Study are seeking an individual with interest and experience in advancing research in health equity, depression, and Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD) in both symptomatic and asymptomatic stages.

This role would advance three ongoing NIH / NIA R01-funded grants that investigate the long-term impact of brain pathology on driving behavior, the interplay between mental health and aging, and structural and social determinants of health.

Our research program employs several methods to study age-related and functional changes. We also collect a cadre of biomarkers to study disease pathology, including brain imaging (Positron Emission Tomography, Magnetic Resonance Imaging) and fluid-based (cerebrospinal fluid, blood / plasma) biomarkers.

Additional responsibilities include project management, personnel supervision, task delegation, decision-making, clear and effective communication, and data analyses, interpretation, and publication.

The candidate is expected to work collaboratively with staff in the DRIVES Project and ARCHES Study and with other groups to pursue research related to aging and ADRD.

The candidate will identify new directions for research, formulate research protocols, submit grant applications to obtain funding to support the research, and present and publish the research findings in the appropriate forums.

It is expected that the candidate will be (or become) an independent investigator and obtain the resources to develop and lead his / her laboratory.

The DRIVES Project and ARCHES are committed to research studies that will advance health equality and incorporate the population diversity of the greater St.

Louis metropolitan area. Our group is made up of and actively engages members of minoritized groups in research so that they may contribute to its scientific directions.
