JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Impulse, Inc. has an immediate opening for a Manufacturing Development Engineer in Auburn, AL . Our client is a Tier 1 Automotive Supplier.

Responsibilities of a Manufacturing Development Engineer include :

  • Design and develop potential future product offerings or "next generation" improvements to existing products. Work closely with potential customers to translate their needs into initial design concepts, ensuring alignment with external customer specifications and internal design requirements.
  • Lead the technical design for assigned Technology Projects by creating 3D CAD models, 2D drawings using GD&T, and conducting simulation studies as required.
  • Build and validate prototypes, including creating Bills of Materials (BOM), coordinating with prototype suppliers, assembling prototypes, and developing test plans and related lab orders.

In some cases, personally complete prototype builds and lab tests as an Advanced Development Engineer.

Perform competitor benchmarking studies, including functional testing, lifetime testing, tear downs, and cost estimation.

Summarize findings in detailed technical reports.

Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders throughout the design process (e.g., Process Development, Series Development, Lab, Purchasing, Sales, Management).

Serve in a project leadership role, managing assigned Technology Projects according to the RAPA Project Handbook and Technology Project Protocol.

Provide technical support at the conclusion of Technology Projects to ensure smooth product transition to Series Development.

Coordinate with assigned Product Engineer in R&D and support Series Development activities as needed to ensure overall product success.

  • Professionally represent RAPA to external customers on assigned projects. Negotiate technical specifications, timing of deliverables, and resource requirements to meet customer expectations.
  • Mentor, coach, and provide training to other RAPA personnel in your areas of expertise to foster skill development and knowledge sharing.
  • Maintain product and company reputation by adhering to federal and state regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements of Manufacturing Development Engineer :

  • Product engineering / design experience in an automotive manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Bachelors in relevant engineering field. Masters preferred.
  • Technical / mechanical aptitude with mechatronics experience and basic knowledge of technical drawings is preferred.
  • Experience using computer-aided design (CAD) to design concepts and simulation software for structure, system, magnetic circuit or flow simulation is preferred.
  • Must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment and handle multiple projects and assignments with proficiency.
  • Management experience is not required.
  • Ability to travel as required up to 15%.
