The East Bay Wrap consists of 3 programs : San Mateo FSP serves youth who live out of County but are dependents of San Mateo Court system.

Youth are referred through San Mateo BHRS; Regional Center - program provides an array of support and assistance for youth with Intellectual Disabilities and their families.

Referrals are made through the youth’s Regional Center of the East Bay Case Manager. The Alameda County FSP serves youth aged 8-18 who have had significant mental health or school difficulties.

Youth are not connected to child welfare or probation systems. AC referrals are made through ACCESS.

East Bay Wrap provides an array of clinical and non-clinical services in order to promote wellness, resilience and stability in the youth’s placement.

Services include safety planning, behavioral intervention, family and individual coaching. The program provides resource linkage to natural and community-based supports, and assessment of family / youth needs in such areas as housing, vocational training, and education.

Services are provided directly or engaged by program staff rather than brokered, as in a traditional case-management model.

A central part of these services is the establishment of the Child and Family Team (CFT) to help guide our services and set family priorities.

What You Will Do

The Parent / Family Partner provides direct care to identified parents and caregivers in a community or home setting. Family Partners may also provide direct care to youth or young adults.

The primary role of the Parent / Family Partner is to provide one-on-one support and mentorship to parents and caregivers, and / or participants or other family members, by sharing experience and expertise in navigating systems and programs (e.

g., Regional Center, Children and Family Services, Special Education Systems, Juvenile Justice Systems, Placement Services, Behavioral Health Care Services, or Residential Centers).

The Partner works collaboratively with the parent, caregiver, or participant and other appropriate community and treatment team members to provide the best therapeutic care possible.

Along with the rest of the team, the Partner is active in supporting and implementing an individualized, evidence-based, culturally competent, family-centered approach.

Salary Range In accordance with California law, the expected salary range for this position is between $18.61 and $30.31 per hour.

The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.

What You Bring to The Table (requirements) :

Parent Partner : Experience advocating, preferably as the family member, for someone who has received mental health or other services.

Parent Partner : Experience as a parent who has received services for a special needs child.

  • Possess good communication skills, including active listening.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize de-escalation techniques that align with the trauma informed care model as part of intervention strategy for working with participants in crisis who are responding to triggers / stressors and / or demonstrating early indicators of distress.
  • Demonstrated cultural responsiveness in working with diverse families.
  • Basic computer and keyboarding competence with the ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and / or competency with electronic clinical documentation.
  • Current CA Driver’s License with a clean driving record or ability to obtain one within 10 days after hire.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends.
  • Ability to work as part of a collaborative, multi-disciplinary mental health team.
  • Must have access to dependable transportation and personal car insurance, meeting minimum liability coverage required for position if driving for work or transporting participants.

Preferred :

  • A.A. or B.A. Degree.
  • Prior parent mentoring experience.
  • Experience in group facilitation skills.
  • Familiarity with local communities.
  • Case management, familiarity with symptoms of mental illness, and service documentation / record keeping experience.
  • Fluency in prevailing language(s) of the community.
