JOB DESCRIPTION

Are you passionate about payroll and eager to make a real impact? Join Delta Dental Insurance as our Senior Payroll Manager and lead our payroll operations to excellence! In this role, you will oversee enterprise payroll functions, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely processing of payroll for all employees with minimal supervision.

The ideal candidate for this position is a strategic professional capable of handling complex payroll systems, maintaining confidentiality, and enhancing payroll processes.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee and manage the payroll function for the organization, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll updates, including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay rates.
  • Develop and implement efficient payroll processes and systems to improve payroll operations, with specific experience in Oracle Cloud Payroll and Labor Management Systems.
  • Manage and resolve complex payroll issues and provide expert advice on payroll matters. Coordinate with People, Legal, and Finance departments to ensure proper flow and maintenance of employee data.
  • Collaborate with the People Organization to identify and communicate trends and issues to various functional areas, proactively strengthening and shaping program design, and recommending solutions that maximize organizational efficiencies.
  • Prepare and audit payroll reports and statements , ensuring accuracy and compliance. Liaise with external auditors, manage payroll tax audits, vendor relationships, and evaluate software solutions to enhance payroll functions.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive payroll procedures and policies ; coordinate policy changes and union contract compliance with the Human Resources department;

and maintain internal controls over payroll processing.

Stay updated on new tax laws and compliance regulations affecting payroll. Ensure compliance with all applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.

Collaborate with both external and internal auditors during payroll audits.

Travel up to 20% to meet with teams, attend training, or manage payroll-related activities at different locations.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 8+ years of payroll experience with at least 1 year in a supervisory / management role.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience processing in-house payroll for a multi-state corporation.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to manage a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations and requirements.
  • Great communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of the organization.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Proven experience in Labor Management systems.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% to meet with teams, attend training, or manage payroll-related activities at different locations.

Licenses

Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)-APA preferred.

Base Pay Information

The national base pay range at the end is a good-faith estimate of what Delta Dental may pay for new hires. Actual pay may vary based on Delta Dental's assessment of the candidate's knowledge, skills, abilities (KSAs), related experience, education, certifications and ability to meet required minimum job qualifications.

Other factors impacting pay include prevailing wages in the work location and internal equity. $105,000 - $226,100
