Position Summary The Student Assistant for the School of Media and Design (SMD) provides general office and graphic design support to the Deans office.
The Student Assistant reports directly to the Dean of Media and Design.
This is a student position open to current UIW students who may be hired through the Federal Work-Study Program or student employment.
Essential Functions Duties for a junior or senior level Graphic Design student includes, but is not limited to :
- Developing general promotional materials for the six program areas in SMD.
- Assist with social media and marketing initiatives for all program areas.
- Provide general office support to the SMD dean’s office that includes answering the phone, sending out letters, running errands on campus and providing office coverage.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Firm knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and After Effects.
- Good verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working in an office environment.
- Ability to respect the confidential nature of activities within the office.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
- Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.
Required Education
- Current UIW student at junior or senior level.
- Approved and eligible to participate in the Federal Work-Study program.
- Enrolled in School of Media and Design, working towards BFA in Graphic Design.
Required Work Experience
- Experience with printers and printing / troubleshooting.
- Experience with Mac & PC Platforms.
Preferred Qualifications Ability to grasp working in a professional environment. Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations None.
Work Hours 10-20 hours per week. Physical Demands None.
