Position Overview :

Trophy Point and Patriot Title are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Controller to oversee all financial and accounting activities.

The Controller will ensure compliance with financial regulations, manage the company’s accounting functions, and provide accurate financial reporting.

The Controller will work with both business investors and borrowers, necessitating a mastery of accounting for both sectors.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Financial Oversight :
  • Manage all accounting operations including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and other regulatory requirements.
  • Track borrower payments collections (daily, super critical).
  • Manage investor payments (quarterly, super critical).
  • Maintain investor records / statements (weekly as needed).
  • Financial Reporting :
  • Prepare and publish timely monthly financial statements.
  • Coordinate the preparation of regulatory reporting.
  • Generate borrower payoff statements (daily, critical).
  • Audit and Compliance :
  • Manage annual audits and ensure adherence to internal controls.
  • Oversee tax filings and manage relationships with external auditors and tax advisors.
  • Manage the tax filings including 175x 1099s and getting appropriate records to the tax preparer (primarily Q1 each year).
  • Budgeting and Forecasting :
  • Develop and manage annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Monitor and report on financial performance, providing insights and recommendations.
  • Provide basic financial stats like WACC and loan volume, expense numbers during weekly management meetings.
  • Team Management :
  • Lead and mentor the accounting team, ensuring professional development and high performance.
  • Manage the bookkeeping of up to 15 entities, with varying transaction volumes.
  • Work with HR to reconcile payroll and expense reimbursements from payroll reports.
  • Accounts Management :
  • Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA preferred.
  • Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting.
  • Experience with both investor and borrower accounting.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
