Exempt Salary : $65 $70K depending upon qualifications Job Summary : As a member of the Safe Homes Project team, the Real Estate and Housing Liaison is responsible for developing and cultivating relationships with landlords, developers, and property management companies to secure leases in affordable apartments for survivors of gender-based violence and their families.

The ideal candidate will be a driven and creative individual with vast knowledge of the NYC housing landscape and current relationships with reputable entities who have apartments to rent.

Major Duties : Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to ensure that program participants who have experienced gender-based violence and homelessness are safely and affordably housed.

Conduct neighborhood research throughout NYC and surrounding areas to establish and nurture relationships with potential landlords, real estate agencies, developers, and property management companies that directly provide housing and / or access to suitable housing options for participants.

Identify and ensure a constant pool of apartment resources, landlords, and real estate agencies as referral sources. Perform basic apartment inspections for participant relocations into housing units throughout NYC to ensure compliance with funder mandates.

Work collaboratively with Safe Homes staff, participants, and landlords to negotiate and secure lease-signing and resolve any potential housing challenges so that participants are safely and stably housed.

Assist team members in securing resources for security deposts, broker’s fees, moving expenses, and furniture and household item expenses.

Maintain comprehensive and up-to-date database entries and case file record documentation for all participants served, including contact information, progress notes, advocacy and referral letters, housing applications, and leases.

Participate in all weekly individual supervision, team / staff meetings, and case conferences. Attend all agency and external trainings and work groups relevant to the role.

Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications : Bachelor’s degree required. In lieu of Bachelor’s degree, High School diploma / Equivalency will be accepted with 2-3 years of experience working in the NYC real estate market required.

Knowledge of affordable NYC housing options required. Experience and / or license as a Real Estate Broker or Real Estate Agent working under a Licensed Real Estate Broker preferred.

Ability to work independently and effectively in and out of the office, traveling throughout the five boroughs of NYC as needed.

Demonstrated interpersonal flexibility, teamwork, customer service aptitude, and excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

Strong organizational and multi-tasking capabilities with a proven ability to achieve results required. Flexible hours required to ensure access and availability.
