Job Description :
Saab, Inc. is seeking a Business Development Director (Civil Aviation) to be responsible for the profitable growth of its US air traffic management business through identification of new business opportunities and customers.
You will be responsible for over-the-horizon identification, evaluation, shaping, and qualification of new business opportunities in civil aviation (Federal Aviation Administration, civil airports, and airlines).
You will monitor competitive activity, customer budgets, identify customer needs, shape Saab solutions to those needs and hand off opportunities to Marketing & Sales teammates to capture.
You will be responsible for developing partnerships and alliances with other stakeholders including companies and government liaisons.
You may represent business interests in corporate activities through close collaboration with Marketing & Sales Leadership.
This position is located in Washington, D.C. with customer responsibilities that span continental US and its territories.
The position may require up to 25% travel. This role will report to the Saab Inc. Senior Director of Business Development.
Major responsibilities will include :
Maintain and grow new and existing customer relationships with the customer community (Federal Aviation Administration, civil airports, and airlines) as well as Saab global business development colleagues)
Gain an in-depth understanding of the Saab products within the portfolio and work with team members to identify opportunities to capture U.S. market share
Work autonomously to influence and partner with internal and external stakeholders.
Develop and maintain excellent relations with customers. Ensure continuing customer relations and an effective flow of information to deliver business objectives.
Coordinate with the Federal Aviation Administration to identify needs, capabilities, and requirements in support of technical inputs and concept of operations to develop system solutions.
Coordinate and conduct all aspects of business development capture management following all required processes and preparing products for the capture of major pursuits within the commercial aviation market.
Prepare and conduct Decision Gates (Business Winning Process) prior to hand off to Marketing Sales team members. Support gate reviews as necessary.
This position may require up to 25% of travel away from local office throughout the year.
Compensation Range : $212,000-$280,900
The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education / training.
Skills and Experience :
15+ years of Business Development in aviation industry and / or relevant operational experience
Federal Aviation Administration, civil aviation experience
Knowledge of FAA acquisition process and government procurement policies and procedures
Knowledge of FAA budget process and requirements definition
Advanced Degree in Business or Engineering
Proven outstanding leadership, communication, strategic planning, Voice of the Customer and relationship management skills
Ability to obtain a Secret level clearance desired
Citizenship Requirements :
