Project Designer - Charlotte, NC

Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking a Project Designer to join our Architecture team in our Charlotte, NC office. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Consults with clients to determine functional and spatial requirements of new structure or renovation, and prepares information regarding design, specifications, materials, color, equipment, estimated costs, and construction time
• Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget
• Plans layout of project and integrating engineering elements into unified design for client review and approval
• Prepares scale drawings and contract documents for building contractors
• Represents client in obtaining bids and awarding construction contract
• Administers construction contracts and conducts periodic on-site observation of work during construction to monitor compliance with plans
• Prepares studies and reports
• Prepares project designs and plans using computer aided design software and equipment
• Directs activities of workers engaged in preparing drawings and specification documents
• Resolves client problems and complaints and provides technical advice to project staff
• Performs final quality assurance / buildability review of project documents
• Signs and seals project documents prepared under his supervision
• Understands and obeys site safety requirements for construction sites
