- Marketing and communications management, advanced writing, and editing experience.
- Prior experience driving marketing and communications strategies and workflow.

- Advanced level of writing and editing print and electronic communications, including impeccable proofreading skills and outstanding verbal communications skills.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting fundraising or alumni marketing and communications for a large public university or nonprofit organization.
- Preferred minimum five years of proven experience in alumni engagement, development, or related fields, with a track record of successfully engaging and cultivating alumni.
- Preferred minimum five years of comprehensive communication management experience. Prior experience working on comprehensive philanthropic and alumni engagement campaigns is preferred.
- Management and supervision experience, including coaching, managing, and mentoring teams of alumni engagement and communications professionals, building talent within the department and ensuring that the department is optimally structured to support alumni engagement and communications functions.
- Demonstrated ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information.
- Proficiency in office software tools and experience with relevant CRM and project management tools.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Maturity, judgment, and respect are requisite to engage with campus leadership and prominent alumni.

Job Description The Director of Advancement and Alumni Communications oversees and manages strategic marketing and communications programs and projects to increase awareness of and private support for Texas State University, as well as grow alumni affinity and overall engagement.
The Director will drive the development and execution of a communications strategy that engages, builds affinity with, and activates alumni, parents, and other constituents, inspiring them to take actions that support and promote Texas State University.
Reporting to the Executive Director of Donor Engagement, the Director of Advancement and Alumni Communications is a key member of the University Advancement team, supporting brand development and fundraising priorities.
This role works with peers throughout University Advancement to develop compelling cases for support; develop marketing and social media strategies and identify targeted opportunities to cultivate pride and motivate investments in Texas State University.
To execute this work, this position will frequently collaborate with internal and external stakeholders. Job Duties
- Help create and bring to life marketing concepts and communications plans that will encourage alumni to engage with the University, ultimately developing a path for event attendance, social media participation, philanthropy, and volunteerism.
- Develop and oversee Division communication and outreach initiatives, including newsletters, websites, social media platforms, and alumni publications.
This includes calendaring, messaging, testing, delivery, metrics, and determining ROI.
- Lead efforts to maximize major gifts by guiding effective proposal writing and continually identifying strategic public relations opportunities to promote gifts and other strategic donor communications that build brand awareness and inspire philanthropy.
- Provide day-to-day oversight of development communications operations working with the University Advancement Communications and Development teams and University Marketing department to advance communication and reporting priorities that support the attainment of fundraising and alumni engagement goals.
- Work diligently to understand, embrace, and develop unique messaging to proliferate the Division’s value proposition annually and during significant giving and alumni engagement campaigns.
- Analyze and interpret relevant communications data and information and make appropriate strategy recommendations based on findings.
