In addition, MetroHealth has been designated a Spinal Cord Injury Model System by the National Institutes of Health, one of only 18 such centers nationally.

Primary Patient Population :

Stroke Rehabilitation

Primary skills utilized / learned :

  • Assisting patients with all aspects of personal hygiene, eating & drinking
  • Answering call lights & taking vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, height, weight, and other parameters as instructed).
  • Performing / transmitting basic ECG and phlebotomy.

Personnel PCNA will work with :

RNs, LPNs, Nurse Interns, Providers, Social Workers / Case Management, Respiratory Therapy, PT / OT, Speech Therapy, Art & Music Therapy, Dieticians.

Number of beds on unit :

14 beds

Required Qualifications :

  • High School Diploma or passage of a high school equivalency exam.
  • Ability to work in a team environment while demonstrating good judgment, flexibility, initiative, and effectively problem-solving skills.
  • Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Registered in good standing as a State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA) with the Ohio Department of Health (ODH) Nurse Aide Registry (NOTE : Maintaining ODH Registry status as an STNA is optional after employment in this position).
  • 1 year of experience as a Patient Care Nurse Assistant in a hospital.
