Job Summary

Reporting to the Executive Director of Partnerships and Credential Programs, the Associate Director of Custom Programs at the Student Recruitment and Global Outreach (SRGO) team will primarily focus on the product development and operations for non-degree credential and custom programs at the Harris School of Public Policy.

The Associate Director will work closely with internal and external stakeholders including domestic and international corporations, governmental agencies and non-profit organizations to develop products that serve the client and learner’s needs.

This is a highly comprehensive and agile role managing and shaping the non-degree program portfolio’s development journey at Harris.

It also requires excellent communication (verbal and written), project management and decision-making skills. Depending on the credential program needs, the person may manage a full-time staff, a group of student workers and / or teaching assistants as well.

Responsibilities

Product Development 45%

Work closely with UChicago faculty to develop non-degree programs that represent the UChicago and Harris rigor. Deliverables include program proposals and learning modules with the learner-centered approach in various modalities (in-person, remote, hybrid) for various populations (undergraduate, graduate, working professional, domestic, international etc.).

Understand potential client’s learning needs (academic institutions, corporate, governmental agencies); lead the identification and curation of learning activities based on client’s needs.

Conduct market research to study the landscape of non-degree, custom and adult learning programs; identify new opportunities for Harris to develop new programs.

Support or lead the teaching of non-degree programs as needed as a teaching assistant or lecturer.

Client Management & Program Operations 45%

Manage custom program client relationships from design stage through implementation and contract renewal.

Manage communication and project timeline with external clients.

Design and deliver the entire student experience starting from orientation, scheduling courses / classes / live events, creating and managing Canvas sites, managing student workers / teaching assistants, and faculty communication and relationships building.

Manage the program budget. (expenses, revenue, net revenue)

Engage with the program alumni and manage the LinkedIn groups for credential alumni.

Define and track key metrics to measure the performance of programs, assess features, and continuously improve the learner experience.

General Operations and Other Duties 10%

Support other staff members at Harris Chicago team and the Delhi Center to ensure smooth operations of other projects and tasks’ delivery in India.

Provides in-depth knowledge in developing executive or professional degree programs and / or curriculum. Implements plans for executive or professional degree programs and initiatives and acts as a liaison between the program and program participants.

Serves as a resource for program information. Resolves problems or questions referred by program staff, University administrators, or other contingencies.

Performs other related work as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

Education : Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.

Work Experience : Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through 5-7 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Certifications : None required.

Preferred Qualifications

Education : Bachelor’s degree.

Master in Public Policy or similar master-level degree.

Experience :

At least 3 years of experience in learning program development, learning technology and management in an educational setting required;

direct experience working with external client groups.

Teaching assistance experience with undergraduate, graduate or working professional groups, direct lecturing and instructional experience.

Experience with the University of Chicago or other peer institutions, and / or student-facing experiences.
