SUMMARY :
SNF Flopam, a subsidiary of SNF Holding Company, is seeking a Process Safety Engineer / Specialist. SNF Flopam is a new, state of the art facility located in Plaquemine, Louisiana.
The position will report to the Environmental and Process Safety Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Supports internal customers (i.e., Engineers, Plant Managers, Operations etc.) by overseeing the PSM / RMP program as assigned.
- Is the day-to-day contact for PSM for the Plaquemine site.
- Perform assigned duties as specified by Flopam Environmental and Process Safety Manager
- Responsible for all PSM / RMP elements and program requirements.
- Help coordinate PSM / RMP and other departmental activities with site personnel.
- Support PSM / RMP portion of RCMS for site.
- Coordination / administration of site MOC program.
- Coordinate site PSM schedule to ensure PHAs and Audits are scheduled and conducted on time.
- Coordinate and lead, and / or facilitate site PHAs, Hazard Reviews and PSSR's.
- Develop understanding of Layers of Protection Analysis (LOPA).
- Conduct internal audits of site activities related to Employee Participation, Operating Procedures, and Training.
- Develop and track key PSM / RMP performance metrics.
- Conduct regulatory compliance audits in support of PSM / RMP.
- Report on PSM / RMP program activities to management.
- Develop recommendations resulting from PHAs, Hazard Reviews and PSSR's.
- Participate in incident investigations as necessary.
- Use and continued development of software used to administer portions of PSM / RMP program.
- Assist Environmental and Process Safety, Operations, and Safety on new employee and periodic training.
- Participate in knowledge sharing with other PSM Specialist(s) and Corporate PSM group to share best practices.
- May require interaction with State and / or Federal regulators during site inspections.
- Some travel required as necessary to support other company facilities
Requirements
- B.S. in Engineering or related scientific / technical degree (Chemistry, Biology, Environmental Science, etc.)
- In absence of degree, relevant job experience will be considered
- 1 - 5+ years applicable experience
- Must have a working knowledge of 29 CFR 1910.119 and 40 CFR 68 (RMP) regulations and requirements
- Experience in chemical facility operations, maintenance or engineering and PSM
- Excellent organizational skills and capability to prioritize and multi-task
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to lead meetings (PHAs, etc.)
- Ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels in the organization
- Ability to work independently
- Creative thinking and problem solving skills
- Comfortable in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated commitment to continual improvement and the ability to make timely decisions
- Proficient in all Microsoft Office products
- Become proficient in VelocityEHS (EHS EMS Software) and ABS Leader (PHA Leader Software) user
- Familiarity with MOC process, EHS Action Item Tracking, and PHA software a plus
- ASP or CSP certification a plus
