Purpose Statement :
The job of the Student Advocate Aide was established for the purpose / s of assisting adult education students who may be below proficiency and need additional support.
Main responsibilities will be Road to Graduation for a high school diploma and / or GED. Under the direction of the administration and counseling team assist students in developing their skills, receive support, and communicate with educational stakeholders while offering them education.
Providing educational support to students to improve their academic skills using class time for student instruction and remediation;
maintaining the necessary contracts and files on students; and communicating student progress with parents / guardians and with teachers. Work with
partner organizations to assist students with barriers that are in their path and help students navigate in transition to college / career paths.

- Responsible for providing guidance and advocacy to students to ensure they meet academic and behavioral requirements to move forward in their college / career journey.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The aide will work with students in the Weber Adult Education school as part of their support system.
Manage student testing with our NRS TABE testing.
Work with students on good study skills, take attendance, advocate for students, and promote the program in the community in addition to other duties.
Communicates accurately and timely with students and their families to ensure a continuous school / family partnership exists.
Evaluate student progress including attendance, testing, academic, and behavioral data.
Coordinate with community partners to build resources.
Keep accurate records of student, parent, staff, and community contacts.
Participate in stakeholder conferences to develop student action plans.
Assist with the supervision of students during instructional and non-instructional time.
Supports a positive school climate while interacting with students, families, staff, and community members.
Maintain confidentiality when dealing with students, families, staff, and community members.
Perform moderate to extensive physical activity including frequent standing or walking.
Facilitate social and emotional growth with students.
Improve professional competence through professional development.
Participate in staff meetings at both site and district levels.
Testing Lead- train other advocates and PL teachers all ins and outs of DRC. DRC sessions, testing tickets, individual portfolios, individual profiles, adding students to tests, etc.
Create testing tickets and sessions as needed
Assist ESL with TABE testing
DRC contact : ORG #, help with troubleshooting testing, add users into DRC as needed
DRC license report and tracking : How many tests we have- let the Head Secretary know.
Review students to see testing scores and place them in the proper advocate caseload
Prepare testing data for weekly student success meetings
Student Advocate Lead- train other advocates on how to perform their job duties
Track student attendance and progress; look for 90-day drop students and report to the counseling team
Student relationship management (meet them in class, call, text, email, constant contact)
Ensure student caseloads are all enrolled in classes for each session
Monitor student caseload to ensure students post-test when hours are met
PowerSchool passwords if needed
Help students sign AUP if needed
Other Graduation support
Knowledge of Program : Edgenuity, Essential Ed, Aztec, Burlington, Nat Geo, GED, diploma, school sessions, etc.
Actively participate in the weekly staff meeting
Job Requirements : Minimum Qualifications Skills, Knowledge and Abilities -
Must be able to operate standard office equipment; prepare and maintain accurate records, utilizing pertinent software applications;
and utilize problem-solving techniques.
- Must know instructional / tutorial procedures and practices; intervention techniques; age- appropriate activities; and safety practices and procedures.
- Bilingual Spanish preferred but not required.
