Role description :

Arcadis seeks an experienced Lead Roadway Design Engineer to join our team in Michigan.

As the Lead Roadway Design Engineer , you will play a pivotal role in overseeing and managing roadway design projects from concept to completion.

You will be responsible for leading a team of engineers, collaborating with clients, and ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and by regulatory requirements.

This position requires a strong background in roadway design, project management, and team leadership.

Role accountabilities :

  • Lead and manage roadway design projects, ensuring adherence to project scope, schedule, and budget constraints.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to the project team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Supervise and mentor a team of roadway design engineers, providing support and guidance for professional development.
  • Foster a positive team culture that promotes collaboration, creativity, and efficiency.
  • Develop and review detailed roadway plans, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs, and ensuring client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with clients to identify opportunities for additional services and support business development efforts.
  • Implement and enforce quality control processes to ensure the accuracy and precision of roadway design deliverables.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of project documentation to identify and address potential issues.
  • Stay current with applicable industry codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Ensure that all roadway design projects comply with relevant safety and environmental guidelines.
  • Effectively communicate project progress, challenges, and solutions to internal teams, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations as needed.

Required Qualifications :

  • 10+ years of experience in roadway design and project management.
  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineer
  • Professional Engineers License (PE)
  • Experience with MDOT bid document preparation utilizing ORD and other software

Key Attributes :

  • Engineering experience with infrastructure design, which includes extensive experience in the preparation of construction plans, technical reports, construction estimates, and project displays.
  • Proficiency with MicroStation, GeoPak, OpenRoads, and Corridor Modeling.
  • Experience with MDOT design standards, practices, and policies.
  • Ability to manage and run meetings and to prepare written reports and meeting minutes.
  • The ability to work on and manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Experience in a client-facing role, either as an individual or part of a team and making presentations and managing client expectations.

Preferred Qualifications :

  • AutoCAD and Civil 3D skills are a plus
  • Active participation in regional and / or national professional associations.
