Overview
The DFCI Cytometry Cores provide expertise and access to cutting-edge Flow and Mass Cytometry in a shared use setting. The Cytometry Technologist I will receive on the job training in performing flow cytometric analysis, sorting and immunophenotyping by mass cytometry (CyTOF).
We are seeking a dynamic technician to assume responsibilities including the operation, calibration and maintenance of Cell Sorters and Analyzers along with XT Mass Cytometers, data acquisition, analysis, and documentation of results.

Responsibilities Technical Duties and Responsibilities : Once trainedOperation and maintenance of fluorescence-activated cell analyzers, cell sorters, and mass cytometers including data acquisition for patient and research samples, calibration, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Operation of cytometer-related computer hardware and software.Preparation and immunophenotyping of human cellular products for use in research protocols according to lab procedures.
Data analysis, documentation, and maintenance of results according to lab SOPs.Performs cell culture & aseptic technique for cell sorting.
Perform preventive maintenance of equipment and instrumentation. Organize and prioritize multiple technical tasks with max efficiency and minimal waste.
Assume responsibility to train and assist researchers within the core. QA / QC / Regulatory Duties and Responsibilities : Perform and document QC / QA activities as defined in policies & SOPs.
Maintains records of procedures and resultant data, both manually and on computer.Work within the Flow Cytometry Core and Mass Cytometry Core guidelines and adheres to all regulatory standards within the Cytometry Core Facilities.
Ability to enter & retrieve data from computer data bases & spreadsheets. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED : Position requires an ongoing commitment to upgrading of job skills.
- Must be able to work closely with others & possess solid interpersonal & communication skills.Capable of working in a fast-paced environment;
- effective in a diverse work group; willing to work in a rapidly changing work unit. Able to work independently, capable of handling stress of producing accurate results under time constraints;
willing to accommodate schedule adjustments. Must possess good judgment, technical & problem solving and analytical skills.
The ability to be flexible & adaptable to changing technology. Biological Research experience, culture lab experience preferred but not required.
General lab skills and knowledge of lab safety and infection control.Assume responsibility to assist others in the lab on a regular basis.
Qualifications BS / BA in a Biological Science or related field preferred. Minimum 0-2-year experience in a research Flow Cytometry or Mass Spectrometry laboratory setting.
Capable of working in a fast-paced environment; effective in a diverse work group. Must possess good judgment, problem solving and analytical skills.
Requires attention to detail and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with staff and physicians. Must be able to work independently.
Excellent interpersonal skills are necessary. General lab skills and knowledge of lab safety.Knowledge & understanding of the policies & procedures of the lab.
