DESCRIPTION
The Software Developer provides development engineering support and programming support to projects and infrastructure support activities and designs and develops enterprise applications in a Web environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :
- Designs and develops tools that integrate with commercial applications; MS Windows and other operating systems.
- Designs and develops database management systems, image processing, collaborative tools, data manipulation techniques, data visualization techniques, and directory services.
- Provides database architectural and design capabilities.
- Develops unit and functional test plan.
- May manage websites including design, develop, deploy and maintain activities as well as performs testing and quality assurance of web sites and web applications.
- Provides the operations and maintenance of operational systems.
- Modifies existing software to correct errors, allow it to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance.
- Analyzes user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints.
- Provides technical direction to programmers as required to ensure program deadlines are met.
- Consults with customers about software system design and maintenance.
- Designs, develops, and modifies software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design.
- Develops and directs software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation.
- Consults with managerial, engineering, and technical personnel to clarify program intent, identify problems, and suggest changes.
- Writes, analyzes, reviews, and rewrites programs, using workflow chart and diagram, and applying knowledge of computer capabilities, subject matter, and symbolic logic.
- Investigates whether networks, workstations, the central processing unit of the system, or peripheral equipment are responding to a program's instructions.
- Consults with and assist computer operators or system analysts to define and resolve problems in running computer programs.
- Assigns, coordinates, and reviews work and activities of programming personnel.
- Trains subordinates in programming and program coding.
