FINANCIAL ANALYST III The Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity (GOEO)’s mission is to cultivate prosperity for all Utahns by working with industries, Utah regions, communities, and nonprofits to implement strategic development plans and reinforce Utah’s already diverse, prosperous economy.
Are you passionate about finance and eager to make a meaningful impact on Utah's economy? GOEO is seeking a talented Financial Analyst III to play a pivotal role within the office.
As a key player on our dynamic team, you’ll collaborate with and assist various groups with strategic planning and financial decision-making.
This is a senior-level role that requires a thorough knowledge of pertinent policies and procedures to assist with the management of financial programs and a high volume of complex financial functions. In this role, you will :
- Analyze and interpret complex financial data to guide decision-making across the organization.
- Read, interpret, and analyze income statements.
- Forecast anticipated expenses and make recommendations.
- Create, manage, and refine budgets to align with department goals.
- Present clear, actionable financial insights to department leaders and managers.
- Collaborate with various teams to ensure compliance with travel and procurement policies.
- Enter and approve payments in the State’s accounting system.
- Research and reconcile data discrepancies and present findings to senior management.

The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate is someone who has :
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and the other Microsoft Office suite of applications
- Ability to analyze large amounts of data
- Exposure to financial forecasting
- Experience with creating budgets
- Good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills and can communicate with all levels of management
- Ability to interpret and apply detailed policy
- Ability to explain complex financial reports to management
- Ability to take initiative and work independently to meet deadlines
- A strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn and adapt to changes
- Rigid integrity
Preferences
- Preference may be given to current State employees.
- Preference may be given to candidates with education in finance, business, or a related field or at least 4 years of progressively responsible experience in a work-related field.
