Position Details
JOB SUMMARY : The High School Math Teacher will help students learn mathematics skills that will contribute to their educational and social development while teaching the required curriculum as adopted by the Board of Education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
- Instruct students in citizenship and basic subject matter as specified in state law and the administrative regulations and procedures of the school district
- Teach district-approved curriculum
- Translate lesson plans into developmentally appropriate learning experiences
- Communicate regularly with parents outside of the normal classroom day by means of newsletters, notes, phone calls, conferences, etc.
- Evaluate student academic and social growth
- Keep appropriate records and prepare progress reports
- Identify student needs, make appropriate referrals, and develop strategies for individual education plans
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :
- Highly qualified to teach high school students at all grade levels
- Well-versed in best practice instruction methods
- Expertise in differentiated learning
- Exceptional passion for teaching and learning
- High aptitude for forming positive relationships with colleagues, students, and parents
- Ability to deliver high-quality lessons focused on student growth and state standards
- Ability to analyze student achievement data and use it for lesson design and delivery
- Pass a background check with no criminal history
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE :
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS :
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate
- Mathematics endorsement (EX)
