Special Education Teacher
Location : Walnut Creek, CA
Job Type : Full-Time
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs.
- Design and adapt instructional materials and teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in both one-on-one and group settings.
- Assess and track student progress, making adjustments to instructional strategies as needed to ensure academic and behavioral growth.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and other specialists to support student learning and development.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to discuss student progress, challenges, and strategies for support.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of student assessments, IEP meetings, and other documentation.
- Participate in ongoing professional development and stay informed about best practices in special education.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Special Education or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
- Valid California Teaching Credential with Special Education authorization.
- Experience working with students with a range of disabilities and learning needs is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and colleagues.
- Demonstrated ability to create and implement effective instructional plans and adapt teaching methods.
- Patience, empathy, and a commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
