Work Schedule : 7 : 30am-5 : 30pm, 4 days per week

JOBSUMMARY : Under the direction of the simulation coordinator, the SimulationOperations Specialist will primarily manage and execute the operational aspectsof the Nursing Simulation Center, with technical support as a secondaryfunction.

This is a 12-month, full-time position. Occasional evening or weekendshifts may be required.

ESSENTIALDUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Collaborates with supervisor to organize, maintain, and restock skills lab and simulation laboratory supplies.
  • Sets up and takes down simulation laboratory equipment and guides Student Mentors to assist as needed. May involve rapid turnover of simulation lab setup.
  • Maintains simulation activities and learner confidentiality.
  • Provides theatrical moulage for simulation scenarios as requested. Mixes fake body fluids and creates wounds.
  • Sets up and maintains procedural simulators.
  • Operates patient simulators and cameras as needed.
  • Operates and maintains audio-visual systems.
  • Provide recommendations on equipment, supplies, and materials.
  • Maintains current knowledge of simulation / lab equipment catalogs and operation manuals.
  • Maintains and repairs all simulation equipment, including patient simulators, computers, monitors, and a variety of medical equipment.
  • Provides technical support for task trainers and multimedia peripherals including, but not limited to : Beds / examination tables, headwalls, patient monitors, and other health care equipment;

Medication dispensing systems; Vital sign monitors.

  • Program simulator software to model the simulator's physiological response to instructor specifications.
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and contacts vendors as needed.
  • Provides technical assistance, support, and training to faculty, instructors, and staff in use of simulation equipment.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required.

General supervision is received from the Nursing Simulated Laboratory Coordinator

MINIMUMQUALIFICAITONS :

  • Associate's degree in any healthcare discipline, technology (medical and / or educational), or related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) to interact with and work effectively with other faculty, staff, students, and vendors in a positive, helpful, and cooperative working relationship.
  • Organizational and time management skills to keep materials in order, track various projects, maintain files, and follow through assignments to completion.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
  • Knowledge of operation of standard audio-visual equipment : projectors, microphones, portable screens, media players, etc.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technology.
  • Ability to express technical information clearly and simply to non-technical persons.
  • Availability to work evenings / weekends.
  • Physical ability to lift, move, maintain, and set up computer, audio-visual, and simulation lab equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. without assistance.
  • Experience and ability to positively interact with diverse student populations and groups.
  • Ability to perform the essential duties of the position without accommodations.
  • Basic computer skills including proficiency in MS Office and ability to learn additional software programs.

PREFERREDQUALIFICATIONS :

  • Bachelor's degree in any healthcare discipline, computer / technology discipline, or related field.
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS).
  • Mechanical skills to competently maintain and use equipment in the simulation center.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy / physiology.
  • Clinical knowledge and experience working in a healthcare-related field such as EMT, paramedic, or other allied health profession certification and training.
  • Experience with providing technical support in networking, computer hardware or software.

Duties are generally performed inside and not exposedto adverse conditions. Occasional evening or weekend shifts may be required.
