As the Mechanical Project Engineer, here's the work you'll do :
Gaining mastery over the entire project, able to function as the lead engineer on small to medium scale projects and / or completely engineer complex systems on large / campus scale projects.
Gaining command of the overall department project scope in pursuit of becoming an independent front line project leader (Sr. Engineer).
Produce, and / or directs others in production of project documents to include Drawings (CAD / BIM), Specifications (editing and checking) and support documents (basis of design & reports).
Lead construction phase contract administration activities for mechanical department on project such as Submittals, RFIs, construction support, etc.
- Perform complex engineering calculations; design systems and completed equipment selection.
- Check work delegated to other engineers and designers on project to ensure scope is documented successfully.
- Main point of contact to clients for mechanical department project responsibilities (meetings, conference calls, comment review / responses, etc.).
- Manage mechanical department scope for project.
- Will regularly function as the Responsible Engineer of Record accountable for the technical sufficiency of some or all mechanical department project deliverables - limits of responsibility to be determined in concert with more senior department leadership.
This role is for you if you have these skills :
Has mastered the primary production tools, methods and calculations used throughout the department. Properly understands the diverse design process and has strong project experience from inception to substantial completion.
Must have basic understanding of both disciplines within department (mechanical HVAC and plumbing) and expected to be actively increasing understanding and command of all equipment and technical systems regularly used throughout the department.
Able to be the client facing representative of mechanical department and begins to participate in business development activities.
Ability to create and present ideas to clients in form of drawings, renderings, and other exhibits. Ability to coordinate and communicate with architects and engineers both internally and externally.
Worked with other engineers, disciplines and project managers to ensure project scope is satisfied. Actively supported project manager and department leadership with design scope modifications for assigned projects.
Actively managed project cost throughout the design. Ensured design constructability and coordination with other disciplines necessary for a successful construction project.
Ensured all mechanical CA responsibilities for project are handled successfully.
Able to build trusted relationships with department through maintaining ownership for assigned work and delivering efficient and high-quality results.
Expected to be a proactive learner, responsible to seek out support when needed, identify expectations, check own work output against quality expectations, and pursue opportunities to grow technical capabilities.
And maintains professional humility and respect in partnership with all team members in pursuit of overall project success.
Is expected to know their own technical limitations and proactively seek out support where needed while maintaining their lead role for the project.
Ability to take direction and guidance from more senior staff within company. Ability to provide direction and guidance to less senior staff within department.
And If You Have These Qualifications
- Bachelors or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 6+ years - 2 years with PE / stamping drawings. (Positions are awarded based on staff competency, years of experience listed for reference only.)
- Professional License in Mechanical Engineering required.
- LEED AP certification preferred with the ability to obtain Top Secret security clearance.
- Great attitude and team player.
- Successful completion of background screening process.
- Some travel may be required.
