JOB SUMMARY
Supervises Server Administration staff and ensures availability, performance and recoverability of servers, storage / SAN and associated operating systems and software.
Plans, directs and coordinates the design, testing, installation, support and connectivity of computer and network systems to ensure the secure and stable operation of the organization's IT assets.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages and ensures the availability, performance and recoverability of servers, storage / SAN and their associated operating systems and software.
- Responsible for business recovery of server, storage and network components and maintenance of corresponding documentation.
- Ensures the monitoring of backup systems and various system management consoles.
- Ensures server and storage repairs are provided in a timely and satisfactory manner.
- Ensures servers are updated and patched at the appropriate operating system, anti-virus and anti-malware protection levels to assure system security and reliability.
- Designs and implements short and long term strategic plans to make certain server and storage / SAN capacity meets existing and future requirements.
Coordinates purchase, installation, configuration and implementation of server equipment and software.
- Develops hardware and software configuration standards and evaluates and recommends new hardware and software.
- Administers server and network security to prevent unauthorized or inappropriate access. Performs required security audits of servers and file systems.
- Manages Microsoft Windows Server, VMWare and Citrix environments, Active directory, domain, DNS, DHCP and FTP services.
- Coordinates remote Database Administration work requests and and application and database change migrations to Test and Production environments.
- Provides general second level support for personal computer and related peripherals.
- Collaborates with telecommunications staff, application support, and vendors to design, implement and improve server and storage systems.
- Monitors and manages software licensing to ensure corporate compliance.
- Performs all other assigned duties.
