We serve the residents of Hamilton County in more ways than you may realize! As the Network Engineer at Hamilton County, you will maintain the core network infrastructure, ensuring reliable and secure connectivity for county agencies.
The responsibilities also include maintaining firewall and spam filters, providing security advice, managing Microsoft and Unix / Linux hosts, alternating 24-hour on-call duties, and designing connectivity solutions while staying updated on industry trends and best practices Summary of Job Duties :
- Maintains core network including firewalls, switches, routers and access points (Cisco, Fortinet, Aruba, etc), fiber and cooper media, UPS’s and third-party communication lines to provide reliable interdepartmental data network connectivity to all county agencies.
- Maintains Microsoft and Unix / Linux based systems on prem and cloud hosted to provide needed services including identity management, anti-virus, email spam filtering, postmaster, intrusion monitoring, secure file transfer, virtual private network, etc.
- Maintains MS365 and Entra environment.
- Ensures license and maintenance renewal contracts are kept current.
- Maintains accurate inventory and assists with life cycle management of various hardware.
- Alternates 24-hour on-call duties with another network engineer.
Minimum Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Electronic Technology or related field
- Three (3) years professional experience and proficiency in maintaining computer and data communications equipment
- Comparable training and experience and comprehensive system networking knowledge may be substituted for the degree
- Valid Driver’s license issued by the state of residency
- On call 24 hours / 7 days a week
- Must be able to maintain a flexible schedule
- Must be willing to support agency satellite office
- Required to carry a cell phone

- 40 Hour Work Week, generally between core hours of 7 : 30-5 : 30
